Kansas Secretary of State Scott Schwab Becomes NASS President and New Executive Board Sworn In

Washington, D.C. — The members of the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) have chosen Kansas Secretary of State Scott Schwab to lead the organization as President. He was sworn in today, Wednesday, July 12, at the conclusion of the NASS 2023 Summer Confer­ence in Washington, D.C.

“I am tremendously honored to serve NASS as President,” said Schwab. “I look forward to contin­uing to work with my colleagues from across the country in a bipartisan way, particularly as we approach such an important election year. Our nation is stronger when we can work together and learn from one another.”

Schwab was first elected as Kansas Secretary of State in 2018 and re-elected in 2022. He pre­viously served in the Kansas House of Representatives, holding numerous leadership positions including Speaker Pro Tempore. Throughout his tenure as Secretary of State, he has been an active member of NASS, with participation on the NASS Executive Board and other committees, as well as serving on the Election Infrastructure Subsector Government Coordinating Council (EIS-GCC).

His presidential term will conclude in July 2024 at the NASS 2024 Summer Conference. As a point of
history, Schwab is the fifth Kansan to serve in this prestigious role.

-Eastern Region Vice-President: Hon. William Galvin, Massachusetts
-Southern Region Vice-President: Hon. Brad Raffensperger, Georgia
-Midwestern Region Vice-President: Hon. Robert Evnen, Nebraska
-Western Region Vice-President: Hon. Steve Hobbs, Washington
-Member-at-Large (NPA Section): Hon. Elaine Marshall, North Carolina
-Member-at-Large (ACR Section): Hon. John Thurston, Arkansas

Executive Board members will also serve until the conclusion of the NASS 2024 Summer Con­ference.
