September is National Voter Registration Month

For Immediate Release — Sept. 1, 2022 — Washington, D.C. — Annually the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) recognizes September as National Voter Registration Month. This month highlights the tremendous significance of voter participation and awareness around the registration and election processes.

“By coming together during the 2022 election cycle to celebrate National Voter Registration Month, it’s my hope that my Chief Election Official colleagues and I can reach exponentially more citizens across the country and activate them to register to vote,” said NASS President and New Jersey Secretary of State Tahesha Way. “If you aren’t registered to vote or haven’t updated your voter registration in a while, this is the time to get it done!”

To find your election official or to learn more about your state’s specific voter registration requirements visit canivote.org, a helpful nonpartisan website created by state election officials to help Americans learn how and where to go vote. In addition, learn more about NASS’s #TrustedInfo2022 effort to highlight state and local election officials as trusted sources of accurate election information.

This marks 20 years since NASS members established September as National Voter Registration Month in 2002. Also, NASS continues to support and promote National Voter Registration Day, which will be held on Tuesday, September 20, 2022.
