For Immediate Release — Sept. 2, 2020 — Washington, D.C. — The National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) announces new representatives to the 2020-2021 to the Election Infrastructure Subsector Government Coordinating Council (EIS-GCC).
“Continuing to improve on election information sharing and coordination is not only necessary, but vital for our nation’s democracy. I’m pleased these bipartisan Secretaries of State have stepped up to participate on the Council and appreciate their willingness to serve,” said NASS President and New Mexico Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver.
New NASS EIS-GCC Representatives and Alternates:
NASS President: Hon. Maggie Toulouse Oliver, New Mexico (who will also serve on Executive Committee of EIS-GCC)
NASS President-elect: Hon. R. Kyle Ardoin, Louisiana
NASS Treasurer: Hon. Tahesha Way, New Jersey
NASS Immediate Past President: Hon. Paul Pate, Iowa
NASS Elections Co-Chair: Hon. Jocelyn Benson, Michigan
NASS Elections Co-Chair: Hon. Frank LaRose, Ohio
Volunteers: Hon. Laurel Lee, Florida and Hon. Kathy Boockvar, Pennsylvania
Alternate Volunteers: Hon. Denise Merrill, Connecticut, Hon. Nellie Gorbea, Rhode Island, Hon. Tre Hargett, Tennessee and Hon. Kim Wyman, Washington
The representatives and alternates will serve until the conclusion of the Summer 2021 EIS-GCC meeting.
The 29 EIS-GCC members, of which 24 are state and local election officials, are working to continue effective communication and provide resources and support to help keep our election infrastructure secure.
Other members of the council include individuals from the National Association of State Election Directors, the Election Center, the International Association of Government Officials, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC).
