WASHINGTON, DC - The National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) will hold its 96th annual summer meeting on July 18 through July 21 in Anchorage, Alaska.
WHO: NASS meeting attendees include Secretaries of State, Lieutenant Governors, Deputy Secretaries of State, State Election Directors, NASS ACR/NPA Section members, corporate affiliates and other key leaders representing government, non-profit and private sector audiences. Alaska Lieutenant Governor Mead Treadwell will serve as the state host for this meeting, which includes several notable Alaska-based speakers, including: Rear Admiral Thomas Ostebo, Commander of the Seventeenth Coast Guard District and Admiral Tom Barrett, USCG (ret.), President of Alyeska Pipeline Service Company. WHAT: This year's conference will address current policy topics in elections, business services, state heritage preservation, international relations and more. The association will hold a special ceremony on July 20 to announce the state recipient of the NASS IDEAS Award, which recognizes excellence in state member office programming. NASS will also elect its new slate of national officers on July 21, featuring the induction of Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett as NASS 2013-2014 President.
